Summer Teen programs

Knowing all your needs are provided for in nature, you may begin to feel at home in the wilderness

Teen Backpacking and Wilderness Skills on the Pacific Crest Trail                  July 1 - July 5
Have you ever wanted to feel at home in the wilderness? Join us for an epic trek along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). This will be a memorable trip whether you are a beginner or experienced backpacker. Besides learning basic skills of backpacking, reading map and compass, backcountry cooking and good hygiene, you will learn numerous wilderness skills, like animal tracking, plant/tree ID and their many survival uses.

The last two trips have been so fun that the teens requested we offer a longer trip this year. So this year we will spend six days in the backcountry. The Pacific Crest Trail, mountains, campfire, and wildlife will inspire our daily activities. Days will be balanced between work and play; learning the essentials of backpacking and wilderness living, hiking to the next camp, cooking for ourselves, but also playing, music, exploring, fishing, and learning. There will be workshops along the trail on backpacking basics, wilderness survival skills, wild plant and tree ID, animal tracking, and more. Join us and learn to feel at home in the wilderness.

Participants must be in excellent physical condition, able to hike 5 - 10 miles in a day carrying their own gear and a portion of the groups food. Main meals included (bring your own favorite snacks). Mandatory gear check and meeting before trip. Trip Leaders Robin Bliss-Wagner and ______ (female trip leader not yet chosen, but there will be one, as on all previous trips).

$750 - $1,150 sliding scale (you choose from the suggested range). Ask about partial work trade options for a reduced rate.
Join Robin Bliss-Wagner in this deep nature connection series to learn ancient skills such as animal tracking, wilderness survival and more. Through sensory awareness, games, crafts, music, survival skills, and story, we will explore and learn directly from nature through the seasons.

Adventure with us and deepen your connection to nature, self, and community.

Our holistic mentoring approach, rather than teaching information, aims to awaken attributes such as common sense, aliveness, curiosity, agility, self-sufficiency, and helpfulness by engaging with many aspects of nature. However, a detailed curriculum of local species, wilderness skills, and sensory techniques is also part of the program. We highly value knowledge of place, self-awareness, and respect for others and community. We will also learn to make things with our hands.

This is an opportunity to unplug and sync to nature’s rhythm. Knowing all your needs are provided for in nature, you will learn to feel at home in the wilderness.

"In time you will understand the language of animals, hear voices in the wind, music in mountain streams and bird song. You will learn to lie under the stars at night, and to fall asleep to the call of the owl and the whip-poor-will, and to dream dreams so real that they will not be dreams but visions." ~Ingwe

"I really like Robin's organic way of working with people, striving for authentic connection with self, others and of course, the natural world.  He has a wide range of skills and knowledge...and will be teaming up with others of the same caliber..."
